2ND DAY: TATONE — PETRA PIANA
Short transfer by the small Corsican train to the hamlet of Tatonne from where we will start the raid.
...
After passing the hamlet of Canaglia, we will reach the Tolla footbridge and its eponymous sheepfolds, before starting the climb through a magnificent pine forest along the Manganellu.
We will enjoy a picnic break at the edge of clear basins.
The rest of the climb, steeper and more mineral, will take us to a small high altitude plateau where the Petra Piana refuge is located at 1842 meters.
Dinner at the shelter and night in a tent.
7.00 hours of walking. Height differences: + 1122 m.

DAY 3: PETRA PIANA — MANGANU
This stage, one of the most mineral of the GR20, will begin with the ascent of Bocca Muzella at 2,206 m which opens up the panorama of a magnificent glacial circus where several lakes nestle. This itinerary at an altitude of more than 2000 meters will lead us to overlook the lakes of Rinosu, Melo and finally Capitellu in turn.
After a few technical passages (chains, handrails...) we will take the Capitellu gap at 2225 meters to reach the Manganu refuge at 1,601 m.
Dinner at the shelter and night in a tent or shelter.
7.00 hours of walking. Height differences: +700 m; -950 m.

DAY 4: MANGANU — CASTEL DI VERGIO
This day will begin by crossing the Camputile plateau before reaching the banks of the Tavignanu to its source, which is the famous Ninu Lake and its pozzines with a thousand holes of water for a picnic in this magical setting. Short climb to reach Bocca A Reta at 1,883 meters, then descent into the beech forest to Col San Petru before switching into the dark forest of Valle Di Nielu to take a balcony path to the Castel Di Vergio cottage.
Dinner and night at the cottage.
5h30 of walking. Height differences: +250 m; -500 m.

DAY 5: CASTEL DI VERGIO — VALLONE
After a quick trip to the sheepfolds of Radule, we will go up the Golo by a good mule track to its source to reach the Ciutulu Di I Mori refuge, the highest refuge in Corsica, located at 1991 meters.
We will go around the summit of Paglia Orba (2,525 m) by Bocca Foggiale before going down the valley that will take us to the sheepfolds of Vallone.
Farmers dinner and overnight in a tent.
5h30 of walking. Height differences: +708 m; -433 m.

DAY 6: VALLONE — ASCU
Certainly the longest and most technical day of the stay. We will go up the Tighjetu Valley to Bocca Crucetta at 2,456 meters, then a short crossing over the emerald-colored Lake Cinto to reach the Pointe des Éboulis at 2,607 meters. From this breathtaking view of Cap Corse, Calvi and all the summits of the south, there is an option to climb Monte Cinto, the roof of Corsica culminating at 2,706 meters.
The long and challenging descent will pass through the small lake of Argentu before reaching the Bocca Borba plateau. Then you have to cross a few technical passages (handrails) to reach the Tighjettu stream and a well-deserved break, with your feet in the water, before arriving at the Haut Ascu cottage at 1,423 meters.
Dinner and night at the cottage.
8 hours of walking. Height differences: +1200 m; -1200 m. (+/-1350 m with the option of Monte Cinto).

SPOT

Cascades des Anglais

Succession of waterfalls on the GR20 in Corsica

The waterfall trail belongs to the famous GR20 in Corsica. The waterfalls of English follow one another in the wooded valley of Agnone, at the foot of Monte d'Oro, which culminates at 2,389 m. They cross the Vizzavona forest, very pleasant for hikers during the hot summer months. The most adventurous can swim in the numerous pools of crystal clear water, although a bit fresh. The site is sumptuous, even more beautiful in spring when the snow that feeds the waterfalls melts.
