Between Alpes de Haute-Provence and Var, discover the magnificent landscapes of the Gorges du Verdon on foot. This 5-day itinerant hike, with a night in a lodge and a magnificent view of the gorges, takes you around the Grand Canyon.
Hiking in landscapes of canyons, cliffs, lakes: everything is magnificent! The Verdon Regional Park guarantees you a wild and preserved nature. This walking tour will take us, thanks to the mythical Martel Trail, into the bowels of the Grand Canyon of Verdon to go up to the hilltop village of Rougon, flown over by vultures.
You will then reach Trigance and its medieval castle via a breathtaking natural belvedere. 5 to 7 hours of walking per day. Regular pace, breaks every hour. 800 m maximum positive altitude difference.

La Palud sur Verdon/Chalet de la Maline

We leave the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon along the Lamas trail.

A small pass crossed, and we find ourselves facing the magnificent spectacle of the Grand Canyon of Verdon to descend to the Maline farm and reach the Chalet de La Maline on the balcony, located at the edge of the gorges. Breathtaking view from the chalet terrace.

During your stay

Tuesday - Chalet de la Maline/Rougon
From the Chalet de la Maline, we reach the Verdon 400 m below.
We will follow its course on the right bank for 15 km.

In passing, baumes, vires, the famous Imbert breach and its innumerable steps allow you to cross the Mescla spur marking the confluence of the waters of Artuby and Verdon.
Sometimes, near the water, swimming is possible. Sometimes high up, the trail allows you to have breathtaking views of the emerald waters and the impressive cliffs that border them.
At the end of the trail, a series of two tunnels require lighting to cross the “Samson” corridor.
The Belvedere of La Baume aux Pigeons within the second tunnel will allow you to enter the intimacy of the gorges.
Ascend to the magnificent hilltop village of Rougon.

Wednesday - Rougon/Trigance
This stage takes us from the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence to the Var by crossing the magnificent Romanesque bridge in Tusset.
The trail winds through a forest of beech and Scots pine trees to take us to the natural viewpoint of Rancoumas.
Breathtaking view of the Verdon, which flows 400 m below, and of the cliffs frequented by many climbers. Vultures are often there.
Tracks and trails we will make our way around the mountain of “Breis” to arrive at the village of Trigance dominated by its medieval castle.
5 hours of walking. Height difference 550 m.

Thursday - Trigance/Rougon
Departure to the village of Soleils. Before reaching it, we will cross the Jabron in its narrowest part on the Romanesque bridge of the “Sautet” overlooking the river whose bed is beautifully sculpted by the water.
We will pass through the Buddhist community before climbing to the foothills of Robion to reach La Colle at 1151 m.
A very beautiful balcony path crosses the entire northern flank of Robion to bring us to the town of Castellane dominated by Notre-Dame-du-Roc. A Way of the Cross leads to the Chapel built at the top, with a very beautiful view of the city.
5 hours of walking. Height difference 600 m.

Friday: Rougon - la Palud sur Verdon: One of the most beautiful and emblematic sections of the GR4 is the crossing of the Verdon Natural Park and its famous gorges.

Get ready to walk on a few magical steps, in the heart of a preserved area immersed in one of the wildest nature in France. You end your stay from Rougon to La Palud by going up the GR4; 4 hours of walking 400 m in altitude.

End of the stay and departure for Aix-en-Provence TGV station at 2.30 pm. Approximate arrival at the station from 17:30. Round-trip shuttle price €60, to be paid upon arrival.
