You access Espiguette beach by boat from our sports village located in Port Camargue. During this kitesurfing course, our instructors accompany you to allow you to progress safely. During your stay
During the 5-hour continuous day at Espiguette Beach, a perfect spot for beginners thanks to its stretch of fine sand and for those initiated by its dominant side-on wind orientations and its famous thermal wind.
Beginner levels will discover the first elements of kitesurfing and beginner levels can enjoy a short revision session if necessary. Through the discovery of the equipment and its choice, the kite and its safety systems, but also the vocabulary of kitesurfing, wind speeds, good conduct on a kitesurfing spot as well as evolution in a kitesurfing area (preparation of equipment, take-off zone, sea users, signaling...)...
Beginners then learn how to pilot the wing in the flight window, power management, and airdrop the wing in order to quickly understand the safety systems, followed by the takeoff and landing of the wing with universal signals. Towed swimming to feel the power of the wing and the possibility of choosing its direction, the re-takeoff of the wing in the water independently. Finally, steering and putting on the board in order to quickly switch to the waterstart to get out of the water and make your first edges.
For initiates and experts, gaits by piloting the wing: upwind, release and cross, transitions and their variants, simple jumps and jumps, the tricks you want to perform, or even navigate on supports other than twintip such as strapless.
The practice will take place daily, a light wind will make it possible to refine the movements of piloting the wing, especially with extended lines, while a stronger wind will allow you to quickly be in action. Twintip and strapless towed gliding sessions will be complementary in order to discover the feeling of traction and balance while sailing.
Regular debriefings will be carried out, before the main debrief at the end of the week during a friendly discussion.
The course of this program is indicative. It may undergo modifications or adjustments, depending on technical criteria, safety requirements or the climatic conditions of the moment. In this case, only those responsible for UCPA supervision are authorized to take the necessary decision (s). It can also be adapted according to the technical and physical level of the participants.

Espiguette Beach
A wild beach and a famous kitesurfing spot
The huge beach of Espiguette is one of the wildest beaches on the coast. Classified Natura 2000, it offers a typical environment of the Camargue and a protected natural area. It is also a major kitesurfing spot with an orientation favorable to the dominant winds: the Tramontane, the Mistral and the Marin. With its good wind statistics, regular sunshine, a very mild climate and its very large space, Espiguette beach is ideal for all levels of kitesurfing from March to October.

From Nîmes, highway exit Gallargues, direction Le Grau du Roi/ Port-Camargue (left bank) by the D979, then follow the sign “Capitainerie”
From Montpellier, highway A709 exit Montpellier Est, direction Les Plages by the D66, then La Grande Motte/Le Grau du Roi by the D62 “Route de la Petite Camargue”, then follow the sign “Capitainerie”.
You are coming by train
The fastest: arrival by TGV at Nîmes station to take the TER to Grau du Roi (TER traffic is restricted on Sundays, allow one hour of travel). https://www.ter.sncf.com/occitanie
If you arrive in Montpellier Saint Roch: take tram 1 direction Odysseum to Station Place de France, then take bus line 606 stop Les Ecoles au Grau du Roi. Attention, on Sundays only 4 buses serve Grau du Roi: departures at 09:30am, 11:30am, 4:30pm and 6:30pm, allow one hour by bus.

When you arrive at Grau du Roi you can walk to the UCPA sports village along the seafront (about 30 minutes) or take a taxi (about 10 minutes). Taxi du Boucanet: 04 66 53 08 08
During school holidays: a shuttle bus is chartered by the UCPA on Sundays between Nîmes station and the center and on Saturday for the return to the station. Contact the sports village to find out the schedule and booking procedures (10 euros one way, 10 euros the return).
For adult stays, contact the sports village directly to find out if a shuttle is in place.
