SPOT
Sal - Kitesurf beach
KiteBeach, the surfing paradise in Cape Verde
The kite beach spot is 15 minutes from the city of Santa Maria. It is a long beach side shore slightly on (where the wind is across the beach, and brings you back to the edge) This wave spot is very evolving, a bit physical for beginners. Near the edge where you have your foot, beginners will reinforce the learning of the water start with a small foam that comes to unbalance them. As soon as the water start is mastered, the spot reveals its full potential. The start of the surf jumps. The words wave spot may be impressive, but you'll see that it's very accessible. On days when the swell comes in, you will take the time to go to the other side of the island to Punta Preta where the show is magnificent. This beach break wave (which tubes and breaks on the edge) is the playground for experts in windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Hosting
Ponta Preta Apartments
You will be staying in residence Ponta Preta Appartments, in the city of Santa Maria, 2 steps from the beach.
The Apartments consist of a living room, 2 bedrooms with 2 beds in each bedroom, one bathroom per apartment, sheets and towels included.
For more comfort you can book a single room, one of the rooms in a 2 bedroom apartment.
The city of Santa Maria lives to the rhythm of fishing, with tuna and other fish landing every morning. The sweetness of this city invites you to let the time flow to the rhythm of music that is quite close to Brazilian rhythms.

formalities administratives
Since January 1, 2019, French nationals (and citizens from all over the European Union) can travel to Cape Verde without a visa for a maximum stay of 30 days.
Careful! This visa is replaced by a prior formality of pre-registration for entry into Cape Verdean territory, the modalities of which are traced on the dedicated Cape Verdean platform www.ease.gov.cv
This process must be done online at least 5 days before your departure.
An airport security tax (TSA) will be applied for international flights: 35 US$ (approx. 31 euros), tax to be paid when you connect to the site above.
It is advisable to keep proof of payment of this tax in order to be able to present it, on request, upon arrival in Cape Verdean territory.
Careful! If the above-mentioned minimum notice period of five days is not respected, the traveller is exposed to the risk that his online payment, although effective, has not yet been taken into account by the Cape Verdean border police. In this case, he will have to pay again, upon arrival on Cape Verdean territory, the required sum.
Information to be found on the “Advice for travelers” site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Health and formalities
Vaccines: no vaccination is mandatory in Cape Verde, however universal vaccines must be up to date: DTP.
Rabies vaccine not mandatory. Make sure your reminders are up to date.
Dengue: This viral disease is transmitted by mosquito bites. It is therefore necessary to respect the usual protective measures (long clothing, anti-mosquito products to be used on the skin and on clothing, electric diffusers, mosquito nets) day and night. Since dengue can take a potentially serious form, it is strongly recommended to consult a doctor in case of fever and to check which medications are not recommended if necessary (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.). For more information, contact the Pasteur Institute (www.pasteur.fr).
The Zika virus: Cape Verde is affected by the Zika virus. This disease is transmitted by the bites of Aedes mosquitoes. Cases of sexual transmission of the virus have also been reported.
The symptoms of the disease are generally mild (fever, headache, headache, joint pain, rash) and are similar to those seen during other viral infections such as dengue.
However, the occurrence of serious complications such as cases of microcephaly in newborns of pregnant women infected with the virus and neurological complications such as Guillain Barré syndromes seem possible.
In total, it is recommended that everyone:
-to respect the usual measures to prevent mosquito bites (long clothes, mosquito repellents, air conditioning, mosquito net), night and day,
-to consult a doctor in case of fever occurring during the trip or in the weeks following the return to France.
Personal pharmacy recommended:
Your current medications
Pain medication (paracetamol type)
Antispasmodic (Spasfon type)
Antiseptic (Betadine type)
Anti-inflammatory
Antimalarial
Arnica in capsules or in stick
Bands, plasters and elastoplastic
Water purifying tablets (micropur type) according to your destination
Antiseptic eye drops
Anti-diarrheal
Tire tick
Sterile pads
Tweezers, scissors, safety pins
There is no current antibiotic in the UCPA pharmacy, each participant must bring, if they wish, their own treatment according to their tolerance.
Important:
No additional travel insurance is included in your registration. We remind you that it is essential that you have at least one “medical care abroad” guarantee and a “repatriation” guarantee including “search and rescue costs”.
We advise you to consult the General Insurance Conditions pages on our website: https://www.ucpa.com/assurances
Whatever your insurance, do not forget to take the necessary information with you during your trip abroad: name and contact details (telephone, email) of your assistance company and number of the contract subscribed to. This information will be requested upon arrival by our local correspondent.
As the medical facilities on site are limited, we recommend a visit to your dentist before departure.
