A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE TRIP
Mythical journeyGuaranteed departure from 5 participants
Trek (15 days)/High altitude (5100 m)
Manaslu, with its 8163 m, is the eighth summit in the world. Like its famous neighbor Annapurna, you can go around it completely by a magnificent itinerary passing through a high pass at more than 5000 m, and presenting a wide range of magnificent landscapes and mountain ethnicities.
On this less frequented trek, we seem to go back in time, crossing the traditional villages that stretch along wild valleys lost in the middle of the Himalayas.
Accommodation: Hotel in Kathmandu, lodges (local lodges) during the trek.
Carrying: Light bag (4-5 kg), assistance by porters

ADMINISTRATIVE FORMALITIES:
ADMINISTRATIVE FORMALITIES:
- VALID PASSPORT valid for at least 6 months beyond the return date
- NEPALI VISA
It is up to you to get your visa:
=> WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU ESTABLISH YOUR VISA upon arrival in Kathmandu (the simplest solution).
In this case, we advise you to apply for a visa in advance online on the following site (Online Service) “visa application on arrival”: https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/on-arrival/IO01
This procedure (optional) must be done a maximum of 14 days before your departure (validity period of the receipt of this online visa pre-application). Your pre-application receipt must be presented upon arrival, along with your passport and a copy of your passport, at the visa office. Payment is made on site when the visa is issued.
=> It is also possible to issue your visa at the Nepalese embassy in your country of residence, BUT WE DO NOT RECOMMEND IT, because we will not be able to provide you with your trekking permit more than 10 days before your departure, the deadline for establishing your visa before departure will then be too tight.
Visa cost:
- 30 USD or the equivalent in euros (to be paid in cash) for a maximum validity of 15 days.
- 50 USD or the equivalent in euros (to be paid in cash) for a maximum validity of 30 days
ATTENTION: TREK PERMIT: to allow us to establish your trekking permit in Nepal, please send the scan of the first page of your passport (page with the photo) to the following email address: reservation@basecamptrek.com
Expect:
> 2 identity photos (4 photos if you participate in the Manaslu program).
> Travelers are asked by the Nepalese immigration services to bring 200 dollars or the equivalent in euros in cash to pay for their visas upon arrival (the Visa price for a 15-day program is indeed 30 USD), as the online payment system generates long queues.

Long and magnificent trekking at high altitude (5100 m). It is therefore intended for healthy and physically fit people who are able to walk 5 to 8 hours a day at a slow pace, on well-marked trails without technical difficulty.
Long and magnificent trekking at high altitude (5100 m). It is therefore intended for healthy and physically fit people who are able to walk 5 to 8 hours a day at a slow pace, on well-marked trails without technical difficulty.
The length of the stages allows everyone to fully enjoy the landscape. A gradual rise in altitude (10 days to go from 1000 m to 4000 m) allows adapted acclimatization to cross the Larkya La (5116 m)
During the trek, luggage is carried by porters. You will therefore only carry the things for the day in your backpack (3 to 4 kg).
Tips
Tipping is at your own discretion. In some countries, such as Nepal, it is nevertheless an integral part of the country's culture and varies according to itinerary and duration. A prize pool is created, and given to the members of the team at the end of the trip.
Here are the recommended amounts for a participant, they are given as an indication (you can of course give more than the amounts indicated) and take into account the standard of living in order not to destabilize economic balances.
We recommend that you provide 2 envelopes:
=> One for the entire trekking team (except your French-speaking guide), given at the end of the program (during the last evening) for the assistant guide (s) and the porters. Indicative amount given for a participant:
€4 per day of trekking, i.e. €40 (15-day programs) to €60 (20-day programs).
=> The other for your French-speaking guide (given the day before your return, or at the airport on the day of your return flight). Indicative amount given for a participant:
€2 per day of trekking, i.e. €20 (15-day programs) to €30 (20-day programs).
Ecology
To avoid the pollution of the Himalayas, and leave only the trace of your steps:
Bring a water bottle and Micropur purification tablets, plastic bottles are not biodegradable in the short term and Nepal is not equipped to treat this waste
In the same spirit, take your batteries and other non-recyclable waste locally
Refuse plastic bags by bringing or buying a small cotton bag on site for your purchases to leave only the trace of our steps.
Electricity
Generally round cards as in France.
You have access to electricity in almost all lodges, access sometimes for a fee (1 to 2€).
NB: you are going to participate in an “adventure” program, a travel formula that is totally different from conventional tourist circuits: the discomfort, the unexpected, the health conditions, which we may encounter, suppose everyone has a good spirit of tolerance and a taste for adventure.
Through your active and positive participation, you will contribute to the cohesion and good understanding of the group, which is a guarantee of the success of the trip.

COVID INFORMATION:
> All health restrictions on entry into the country have been lifted.
COVID INFORMATION:
> All health restrictions on entry into the country have been lifted.
> It is necessary to check the conditions of entry into the country of final destination - and of transit, if applicable - as well as the conditions required by the airline used.
---------
Vaccinations: no vaccination is mandatory in Nepal (except for the one against Covid). However, we recommend that you be up to date with standard vaccinations: diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, typhoid fever, hepatitis A and B.
Japanese encephalitis: this disease, which only exists in Asia, is transmitted by mosquitoes, against which it is essential to protect yourself. As part of a tourist trip, vaccination against Japanese encephalitis is not routinely recommended. Consult your doctor or an international vaccination center.
High altitude (treks above 4,000 m): a medical visit is essential to check your vaccinations and especially to make sure that you have no contraindications to a stay at high altitude, especially if your health condition requires regular treatment (diabetes, heart or lung diseases, diabetes, heart or lung diseases, epilepsy, chronic blood diseases, thrombophlebitis, embolism).
Malaria: none in Kathmandu and in trekking regions above 1800m. Malaria is present in the tropical Terai plain, on the Indian border, and it is best to take antimalarial treatment for a stay in this region, where our “Jungle and Himalayas” trip takes place. Consult your doctor or the Pasteur Institute for advice.
Dengue
A dengue epidemic is currently raging in Nepal. It is recommended to protect yourself against mosquito bites.
Water: you must be very careful about water: never drink water from mountain streams, or tap water in the city (significant risk: severe “tourist” in the most favorable case). You should drink tea, boiled or chemically treated water (provide tablets such as Micropur), drinks in capped bottles.
Hand hygiene: always wash your hands with soap before eating (or antibacterial hydro-alcoholic gel).

Hosting
At the hotel in Kathmandu. In a lodge during the trek or the circuit. Nepalese lodges are the equivalent of mountain lodges or refuges in France.
Rustically comfortable but always warm, they generally contain a dining room, a kitchen and sometimes bedrooms, but most often dorms. As for the toilets, they are often rudimentary and external. Any hot showers during the trek are at your expense and to be paid on site.
