A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE TRIP

Nature escape
Starting from a warm mountain refuge, located a few hundred meters from the village of Gavarnie, we set off, on snowshoes, to one of the most emblematic and fascinating territories of the Pyrenees mountains, for an unforgettable end of year's Eve!
Magical, magical, grandiose, adjectives are lacking in front of the Cirque de Gavarnie. The border ridges that dominate it culminate at an altitude of more than 3000m, taken over by the harshness of winter, and pristine in white. More than 1500m below, the village of Gavarnie, nestled in the immensity of this natural amphitheater, with unparalleled geology.
For 3 days, we hike, snowshoes in our feet, in these extraordinary and spectacular settings. Before, in the evening, to return to our friendly refuge, for delicious moments of exchange and conviviality, by the fireplace! Departure guaranteed for 5 people or more.

The program

Day by day

Day of arrival

Day 1: Meet at 9 am in front of the Tarbes SNCF station (65) and transfer to the Saugué plateau for a first approach to this incredible universe in which we will evolve for 3 days.
...
Hike on the rolling snow from this unique belvedere, for a wonderful overview of the breathtaking Cirque de Gavarnie and its mountains. We start near isolated barns where the green meadows that surround them in summer have given way to the white mantle. A superb foreground that is set against the background of the Cirque de Gavarnie. Higher up, the barns disappear to let us discover a system of vast valleys with often generous snow cover, ideal terrain for snowshoeing.
Height difference: +/- 500m. Walking time: 3 to 4 hours. Transfer time: 1 hour.

During your stay

Day 2: Le Lary
Dominating Gavarnie, the Col de Lary has generous slopes. At the end of a beautiful valley full of snow, the Col de Lary will offer a new breathtaking panorama of the entire Gavarnie massif: the Taillon, the Brèche de Roland, the Casque, the Epaule...
...
Height difference: +/- 500m. Walking time: 5 hours.

Day 3: Cirque de Gavarnie
In winter solitude in the heart of the Cirque de Gavarnie and its crown of peaks culminating at an altitude of more than 3000m. Immerse yourself in the magic of its frozen waterfalls, suspended in the verticality of this mineral amphitheater. We will evolve in front of the Circus Lair, on the peaceful La Prade plateau. As we walk, the huge monochrome sculpture, proudly standing in front of us, will reveal all the poetry of its tortured lines, enhanced by winter. A unique atmosphere for this last day of the year. We return following to the accommodation for a friendly New Year's Eve, in this delicious typical mountain atmosphere.
Height difference: +/- 600m. Walking time: 3 to 4 hours.

Last day

Day 4: After breakfast, transfer to Tarbes SNCF station, and end of stay from 11 am.
