Hike on the Plomb du Cantal, this inimitable relief of solidified lava. You will be at the highest point of the Cantal Mountains and discover the largest volcanic edifice in Europe.
Then discover Albepierre, nestled between the Benêt and Lagnon valleys, this village does not lack character. Located at an altitude of 1050 m, it maintains a mountain character thanks to its beautiful houses with slate roofs. Its church is rich in very particular stained glass windows and the small built heritage is still very present.
Hike: 7 km/400 m.
Transfer: 20 km distance from car to and from
Day 4: Le Puy Mary hike
We will set off to attack the majestic pyramidal silhouette of Puy Mary. From above, we will be able to admire a most exceptional panorama, all the way to Mont Blanc! We will be at the intersection of several glacial circuses, proof of the history and changes of this massif. Especially since Puy Mary is classified as a Grand Site of France and its crest line connecting it to the Puy de Peyre Arse is very beautiful.

Day 6: Rando Puy Griou and visit to the cheese factory
For our last hike, we chose the geographical center of the volcano, a mineral summit made of this ringing rock (phonolith): Le Griou. It sits in the middle of the transhumance meadows and the Cantalian Massif and offers a 360° panorama of this green volcano rich in pastoralism. Our theme of the day will be volcanism.
Ascension of Puy Griou optional.
